It’s been much of a year now, but Mom’s continuing love of musical performance and my need to learn to catch up to what songs she wants to play– it gives more to us than anything that isn’t a cat.

Finding piano tunes she knows and loves has become a nightly history lesson. I say the name of a tune and instantly I recognize whether she’s about to play something through body language. She gets a little excitement when I mention songs she has known but not heard for years.
