Elections are a right of people regardless of their ‘competence score’ so long as it is possible in any fashion to determine a non coerced choice for your ballot. As luck would have it, she wore clothing that represented the colour of the differing party candidates. I asked her to point to the colour of her party-vote-choice, and *boom*…. vote cast, a level of autonomy maintained.

Mondays are normally a day when mom goes to her day program, but today was a stat holiday so they were not available. To make use of today I got her to her ballot at the advance voting poll. Legally I cannot say what this teacher of her career decided to do as I was her helper, but I was quite impressed with the speed with which she followed convictions established from before I was born.
As for going with her in her wheelchair, it was a supreme bonus as it allowed us to be queue jumped so I could observe the size of the lines today. It does not bode well for the status quo, I believe, if the growth in attention translates into larger vote totals in the election by the end of the 19th. In that sense, it seems more likely to me than before heading to the poll that there will be a very new governmental structure after the main election day is finished.
Meanwhile, mom has had a fairly large grin since she left the poll and I really like it. We walked out and I asked if she felt good for going, her reply: “Much better than if I didn’t, for sure,” perhaps sums it up for many, myself included.
